Hikvision & Dahua Camera Replacement in Phoenix

Hikvision & Dahua Camera Replacement in Phoenix

Still running Hikvision or Dahua cameras? Phoenix Security & Technology replaces them with NDAA-compliant Hanwha Vision cameras and recorders for businesses, HOAs and property managers across the Phoenix area. In most buildings we reuse the existing cable, so the change is quicker and cheaper than a new install.

Why businesses are replacing Hikvision and Dahua

  • Federal contracting rules. Section 889 of the National Defense Authorization Act bars federal agencies from buying Hikvision and Dahua video equipment and from contracting with companies that use it (FAR 52.204-25). If you bid on federal work, or your customers do, these cameras can cost you contracts.
  • FCC restrictions. The FCC has placed Hikvision and Dahua on its Covered List, which restricts approval of their new equipment in the United States. Over time that makes replacement parts and new models harder to source.
  • Insurance, landlords and corporate policies. More insurers, property owners and national brands now ask for NDAA-compliant equipment in their security requirements.
  • Security updates. Older models, and units bought through gray-market resellers, often no longer receive firmware fixes. Read our guide to protecting your surveillance system from cyber threats.

Many products are also sold under other brand names (“white-label”), so a camera may be Hikvision or Dahua even if the label says otherwise. We check the actual manufacturer during the site visit.

What we replace them with: Hanwha Vision

We are a Hanwha Vision authorized partner. Hanwha Vision cameras and recorders are NDAA-compliant, carry long manufacturer warranties, and include AI analytics that tell people and vehicles apart from shadows and animals. For sites that need them, we also install Axis and Digital Watchdog. Whatever the brand, every camera we install is NDAA-compliant.

How a replacement works

  1. Site visit and audit. We list every camera and recorder, identify the true manufacturer and model, and test the existing cable.
  2. Reuse what is good. Network cable in good condition is reused. Older coax systems can often keep their cable as well, using IP-over-coax adapters, which avoids opening walls and ceilings.
  3. Swap cameras and recorder. New cameras go on the existing mounting points where possible, and a new NDAA-compliant recorder replaces the old one.
  4. Keep the footage you need. Before the old recorder comes out, we export any footage you need to keep for open incidents or claims.
  5. Phones and training. We set up the mobile app with secure remote access (no open ports on your router) and show your team how to find and export video.

Large sites can be replaced in phases, starting with the entrances, cash areas and perimeter, so the budget can be spread over time.

Hikvision and Dahua replacement: frequently asked questions

Is it illegal for a private business to use Hikvision cameras?

No. The federal rules apply to government agencies and companies that contract with them. Private businesses can keep using the equipment, but many replace it to meet contract, insurance, landlord or corporate requirements, or because it no longer gets security updates.

Do we have to replace all of our cameras at once?

No. We often replace the recorder and the most important cameras first, then finish the rest in later phases.

Can we keep our existing cabling?

Usually, yes. We test the cable during the site visit and only replace runs that are damaged or too long for the new cameras.

How do I know if my cameras are Hikvision or Dahua?

Check the label on the recorder or the login screen of your camera app. If the brand is one you have not heard of, it may be a white-label product; send us the model number or let us look during a free site visit.
